The lecture and course material are designed with the intent of serving the educational needs of both students who will make accountancy their career and those who will use accountancy information in other professions. It is assumed that the studentÂ’s have had no exposure or limited knowledge of accounting practices, so the class focuses on explaining terms, practices and accounting principles. Special emphasis will be placed on the following topics: recording transactions, preparing financial statements, understanding financial statement content and accounting systems. The student will also be introduced to partnership and corporation accounting. Each class builds on the previous class so it is important for the student to stay current.
