08F, 09F: 12 An introduction to Greek and Roman influences on Western Literature. Readings may include: Homer’s Iliad , Euripides’ Bacchae , Plato’s Phaedrus , Shakespeare’s Troilus and Cressida , Pope’s Rape of the Lock , Goethe’s Werther , Mann’s Death in Venice , and Wolf’s Cassandra .
