This course uses current and classical literature to teach students about the major principles of developmental biology. Monday lectures will present overviews of various areas in animal development and familiarize students with basic concepts. Friday meetings will be group discussions of assigned literature that students will have read. Emphasis on experimental design, analysis of data and interpretation of results will be given. Each week, classic and current papers will be discussed to illustrate time-honored principles of inquiry into animal development. A high level of student participation in discussion is expected.
