This course explores the different interpretations that Spanish narratives offer of musical practices (jazz, salsa, indigenous music, serial music), musicians, and music itself as an artistic and intellectual discourse. How do authors include music and the idea of sonority that it implies through narrative forms? How does the linguistic, literary discourse embody musical forms and contents? This transatlantic course is purposefully designed to explore the role of music in Hispanic novels and societies.
