Students will develop a critical facility to discuss the work presented in class. Although the majority of work will be from the observed form, such as still life and the human figure, non-observational creation will also be emphasized. 08F, 09F: 10A In 08F, Relief Printmaking . Basic techniques of relief printmaking. Images (abstract and/or representational) are cut to stand out in relief from blocks of various materials such as wood, linoleum, rubber, and plastic. The raised surfaces are inked and printed, using both black and color inks. Includes multiple- block color printing, and may combine with collograph, letterpress, or other printmaking processes.
