The course will with main emphasis on plants from the agrobiological system give you an overall knowledge in plant taxonomy, systematic, anatomy, morphology, reproduction, growth and nutrition. Plants will be described at the cellular, organ and whole plant level as well as their basic physiological processes. The course will also give an introduction to keying of plants using relevant floras. The influence of different production and environmental conditions on plant growth and development will also be touched upon.

During the course, you will work with the basic structure and function of virus, bacteria, archaea, fungi, and algae as well as their genetics. You will learn about examples of microorganisms with beneficial and potentially pathogenic properties in animals and plants. You will focus on the application of selected microorganisms in agriculture as well as food and beverage industries. In practical and theoretical tutorials you will work with basic methods for isolation, cultivation and identification of microorganisms.
