Life has a very long history on earth and this course will chronicle patterns of biological diversity from its origin over 3 billion years ago to the present day. Topics covered will include methods for reconstructing the history of life on this planet, the origin and evolution of major groups of plants and animals, dinosaur paleobiology, past environmental changes and their effects on species and communities, and extinctions.
